Buyer & seller protection

Safe Trading on CryzyWatch

Luxury watches represent significant value. These guidelines help you buy and sell with confidence — and avoid the most common pitfalls in the pre-owned market.

Verify the seller

  • Review the seller's listing details and request independent proof of identity and ownership before paying. Do not assume that a published listing means a watch or seller has been authenticated.
  • Ask for additional photos — close-ups of the dial, caseback, crown, and bracelet clasp.
  • Request a short video of the watch running and the crown being wound.
  • For high-value pieces, ask for a video call to inspect the watch in real time.

Authenticate before you buy

  • Always request original box and papers — they significantly aid authentication and resale.
  • Cross-reference the serial number with the brand's service records where possible.
  • For watches above $5,000 consider a third-party authentication service before completing the purchase.
  • Be cautious of prices significantly below market value — if it seems too good to be true, it usually is.

Secure your payment

  • Use traceable payment methods — bank transfer, escrow, or a reputable payment service.
  • Never pay via cryptocurrency, gift cards, or cash transfer apps for high-value items.
  • For large transactions, consider using an escrow service that holds funds until you confirm receipt.
  • Get a written receipt or invoice from the seller before transferring any funds.

Shipping & handover

  • Insure the shipment for the full declared value — standard postal insurance is rarely sufficient.
  • Use a tracked, signature-required courier service for all watch shipments.
  • For local transactions, meet in a safe public place — a bank lobby or jeweller's premises are ideal.
  • Inspect the watch thoroughly before signing for delivery or handing over payment.

Recognise red flags

  • Sellers who refuse additional photos, video calls, or third-party inspection.
  • Pressure to complete the transaction quickly or outside the platform.
  • Listings with stock photos rather than real images of the actual watch.
  • Requests to pay via untraceable methods or to a third-party account.

For sellers

  • Only share details you are comfortable showing to signed-in buyers. CryzyWatch does not independently verify every buyer.
  • Do not ship a watch until payment has fully cleared in your account.
  • Keep records of all communications, photos, and transaction receipts.
  • Report any suspicious enquiries or fraudulent buyers to our support team immediately.
